
My last years of school administration were in a kindergarten to grade six school after many years of being a teacher and administrator in a high school. This move from high school to elementary school gave me a new set of eyes with which to look at education. My time in high school provided me with the opportunity to see highly skilled teachers who for the most part had an intimate knowledge of their subject matter and demonstrated strong teaching techniques. Moving to the elementary school introduced me to another highly motivated group of teachers who worked tirelessly to provide a nurturing learning environment for their students. I did, however, feel that there was a subtle difference between the teachers of the two schools.
